Set over two days with
Ladies' Day famous for its fashion competition and the Oaks Race on the 1st and
Derby Day on the 2nd. Home to the world’s greatest flat race and dating back to
1780, the Derby is an extremely demanding race.
This year’s Derby promises
to be the best yet, as it coincides with the Queen's Jubilee. The second
day will mark the beginning of her celebrations and as an added bonus Katherine
Jenkins will be performing the national anthem. In theme with the patriotic
proceedings, there will also be a Red Arrows' display and a photography
exhibition of the Queen. It is no wonder that this year’s Derby is set to
attract a record amount of visitors.
Dress code – If you are in the Queen’s Stand, it is top hats and
tails. The Duchess’ Stand and Lonsdale Enclosure are both smart casual. If you
are going for a real knees up, the party people can be found on the hill in the
middle of the course which is free entry and the perfect place to roll out your
picnic blanket and serve up a feast, wear what you will – the madder the
better!
